The prostate examination, or as it is known as prostate detection, is an examination through a skin incision, through which a sample of prostate tissue (Prostate) is taken in order to be examined accurately under a microscope.
The prostate examination is usually performed when there is a possibility of prostate cancer, which requires an accurate diagnosis. There are many ways to reach the prostate gland, the most common of which is a rectal biopsy (rectum), by inserting a thin needle. This process is called a "trans-Rectal Biopsy".
Another less common method of accessing the prostate gland is to perform a biopsy of the prostate gland through the urethra or through the perineum - the area near the anus.
